Rob Guest （全名Robert John Guest），1950年7月17日 出生在英国的伯明翰，13岁随家人移民新西兰，后来成为新西兰的流行歌手。同时也演出一些戏剧和音乐剧作品，如出演Hamilton Operatic Society 制作的Half a Sixpence 和《约瑟夫与神奇彩衣》。22岁那年在“耶稣基督起革命”（The Jesus Christ Revolution）中首次担演主角。1978年，获得韩国歌曲节（Korean Song Festival）最佳男歌手大奖，为加拿大广播公司录制了一张专辑，1979年被选为新西兰“年度职业表演者”（Professional Performer of the Year’）。
1981年，他和第一任妻子Lynette Perry一起移居美国，在拉斯维加斯等地主持了不少节目。1985年，在洛杉矶获得FIDOF Award。后来回到新西兰，继续他的演艺事业，1988年成为新西兰年度最佳戏剧男演员（male theatrical performer of the year）。
1988年，Rob Guest在澳大利亚的《悲惨世界》中接替Normie Rowe饰演冉阿让，之后三年半在澳洲、新西兰各地巡演，为此获得1991年Green Room Award最佳男主角奖。1995年，他作为澳大利亚的冉阿让扮演者代表，参加了在皇家艾伯特音乐厅举行的《悲惨世界》十周年演唱会，在最后与世界各国的 冉阿让代表一起唱出“Do You Hear the People Sing”。在1998到99年，他在澳大利亚的《悲惨世界》重排版中再次演绎了冉阿让这个角色。
Rob Guest另一个著名音乐剧角色是《剧院魅影》中的魅影，1991年他接替Anthony Warlow出演这个角色，这一演就连续演了7年半，从1991年12月至1998年9月，总共演了2289场之多，保持了这个角色上演场数的世界纪录。 期间还担任过游戏节目Man O Man的主持。1994年获颁OBE勋衔。
除《悲惨世界》和《剧院魅影》之外，Rob Guest还演出了一系列音乐剧角色，如《音乐之声》中的冯特拉普上校，《变身怪医》中的Jekyll/Hyde，理发师陶德中的Sweeney Todd等。
2008年9月30日晚，Rob Guest在墨尔本因严重中风入院，10月2日晨在医院逝世，终年58岁。此前他正在《罪恶坏女巫》（Wicked）中饰演大巫师（Wizard of Oz）。这也成为他的最后一个角色。
