出生地：美国威斯康星州Milwaukee市
在Marquette大学（Milwaukee市）就读美术学位，依靠奖学金以及兼职工作支付学杂费用。
Crivello最初在芝加哥的一些话剧演出中跟班学习表演。他的第一次在百老汇登台是1983年在百老汇的Evita中的替补Che。除了Les miserables，他还出演过音乐剧The News和Measure For Measure等。
Crivello最负盛名的角色是Kander和Ebb的音乐剧《蜘蛛女之吻》中的Valentin，他是《蜘蛛女之吻》在加拿大的首演Valentin，1993年《蜘蛛女之吻》被搬上百老汇的舞台，他凭借这个角色获得1993年托尼奖音乐剧最佳男配角。
1996年Crivello在芝加哥Goodman剧院主演The House of Martin Guerre，获得Joseph Jefferson奖音乐剧最佳男主角。1997年他在加拿大多伦多Royal Alexander剧院主演音乐剧《简-爱》（世界首演），饰演男主角罗切斯特，并因此获得加拿大Dora戏剧奖提名。
1999年Crivello主演了Marie Christine（百老汇首演），与Audra McDonald演对手戏。2001年他在Pasadena剧院主演”Do I Hear A Waltz？”，并因此获得多项戏剧大奖提名。此外，他还演过Sondheim的音乐剧《刺客》中的Guiseppi Zangara，Kismet中的the Caliph，Romantique中的Eugene Delacroix等等。
2006年Crivello在由Hal Prince执导的拉斯维加斯新版The Phantom of The Opera中饰演the phantom。
其他：
Crivello在伦敦，加拿大以及美国许多地方剧院出演过50多部话剧。他出演过多部电影，还在许多电视剧（CSI, Law And Order等等）中客串。
除此之外，多才多艺的Crivello还自己创作过剧本和歌曲。他还曾为Newsweek杂志撰稿，撰写并执导过一些影视作品。
